Chicago Children’s Diabetes Prevention Program

Is your child overweight? If so, then he or she might be at risk for diabetes. Type 2 diabetes, once referred to as adult-onset diabetes, is becoming more common among young people. To reduce the risk of diabetes, the University of Chicago Medical Center offers a free children’s diabetes prevention program. In a community-based setting, families meet to learn healthy life habits. The program is open to families of overweight children, ages 9 to 12.
