Effects of Treatment with an Anti-IgE Drug on Patients with Chronic Sinusitis and a Positive Allergen Test

Study Summary

The purpose of this research study is to learn more about possible treatments for chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. We will compare the effectiveness of a drug given by injection and currently used for the treatment of asthma with placebo (something that looks like the active medication but does not contain the active drug). The study drug is considered experimental in this study because it is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps. This research is being done because currently, even with the surgical and medical treatments available, there are still many patients who suffer from this disease. Participation in this study will last approximately six months, with once or twice (depending on the dose of study drug required) monthly visits.
