Heart Imaging Exams for Healthy Volunteers and Coronary Artery Disease Patients

Study Summary

The purpose of this study is to better define the role of cardiac (heart) MRI in medical practice and in patient health management. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the heart (uses a large magnet, radio waves, and a computer to produce detailed images of the heart). Information gathered from the healthy volunteers that participate in this study will be compared to information from the coronary artery disease patients in this study in order to help further our understanding.

You will be in this study for about 5 years. In the first year, you will have a physical exam, blood draw (about 2 tablespoons of blood), and an MRI. You will have follow-up MRI tests at one year and three years after the first MRI test. We will contact you once a year for up to five years by telephone to see how you are doing. You will be compensated for your participation in this study.

Benefits

You are not expected to benefit directly from participation in this study. We hope the information learned from this study will benefit coronary artery disease patients in the future and help doctors take better care of their patients.
