Research study for Bronchiectasis Patients to Validate the Quality of Life Questionnaire -- Bronchiectasis
Study Summary
The University of Chicago and Dr. Strek are conducting a research study to determine the reliability and validity of the Quality of Life Questionnaire -- Bronchiectasis. Quality of life questionnaires are tools to help doctors care for their patients, and are methods for patients to let doctors know how they feel about their quality of life.
This is an open-label study, which means that everyone who is eligible will receive the active drug aztreonam. Aztreonam is an experimental drug.
This is a 10-week study that includes a screening and observation period of up to two weeks, followed by a four-week study drug period, and a four-week post treatment observation period. You will be screened to see if you qualify for participation. Some of the procedures that may be done during the study include physical examinations, medical history, blood and urine testing, chest CT scans and x-rays, breathing tests, six-minute walk test, collection of sputum (saliva) and questionnaires.
You will be compensated $50 for each completed study visit.
Benefits
You may not receive any direct health benefit from participating in this study. However, you may benefit by being followed for your bronchiectasis and your general health status. The knowledge gained from this study could provide valuable information about bronchiectasis and its treatments and, additionally, help other people with bronchiectasis.
