Pediatric Sports Medicine
Sports-related injuries in children and teens are often different than those seen in adults, and therefore require focused care with an eye toward the special needs of a growing child. University of Chicago Physicians at Matteson offer pre-participation physicals and outpatient consultations for nonsurgical and surgical treatment of pediatric sports injuries. Most problems we encounter can be treated medically, without surgery. We also provide expert advice on sports safety, sports readiness, and injury prevention. X-ray facilities are conveniently available on site.
Some conditions commonly seen by our pediatric sports medicine experts include the following:
- Acute and overuse injuries (sprains and strains)
- Musculoskeletal pain, including back pain
- Ligament injuries
- Exercise-induced asthma
- Breathing difficulties during exercise
- Nutrition issues
Sports medicine care for adults is also available at the University of Chicago Physicians at Matteson practice.
