BRA Day USA: Raising Awareness About Post-Mastectomy Breast Reconstruction

BRA Day USA The BRA Day ribbon is a symbol that represents the breast reconstruction journey. This ribbon has a double meaning; the inner loop resembles an infinity symbol, which stands for an open-minded and broad approach to treating and reconstructing the breast cancer patient. The pink ribbon’s closed loop represents the important role of breast reconstruction in "closing the loop on breast cancer."

The University of Chicago Medicine is a proud sponsor of the inaugural Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, or BRA Day USA, to be held on Oct. 17, 2012. BRA Day promotes education, awareness and access regarding post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. The University of Chicago Medicine is the only Chicago sponsor of BRA Day USA. Sponsorship supports educational and public service events on BRA Day and extends to sustain ongoing breast reconstruction awareness efforts. BRA Day USA will occur annually on the third Wednesday of October.
