Robotic Surgery for Prostate Cancer
University of Chicago urologists are experts in using robotic technology to perform prostate cancer surgery. This innovative approach means less pain, smaller scars, minimal blood loss, and a faster recovery compared to open prostatectomies. Robotic prostate cancer surgeries have been performed at the University of Chicago Medical Center since 2003.
Our surgeons use the Da Vinci Surgical System--a robotic system that allows better visualization and enhanced dexterity and control for the surgeon. At the University of Chicago Medical Center, the Da Vinci system is used to treat a variety of conditions, from urologic problems to heart disease.
