Amy Whitaker, MD, MSAssistant Professor of Obstetrics/GynecologyDr. Amy Whitaker provides reproductive healthcare for women and adolescent girls. She specializes in pregnancy termination and contraceptive care, including management of hormonal contraception, placement of intrauterine devices and implantable contraceptives for women and teens with complex medical histories. She also provides comprehensive pregnancy options counseling for women with fetal abnormalities detected during their pregnancies. Dr. Whitaker earned a Master of Science in Health Studies. Her recent research has focused on long-acting reversible contraception, expanding access to contraception, interventions to increase access to contraception for young women, and post-partum and post-abortion contraceptive options. Dr. Whitaker is also an active teacher and lecturer at the Pritzker School of Medicine. In addition to teaching courses in reproductive healthcare, she has given lectures on epidemiology, clinical investigation and the doctor-patient relationship.
