Andrea L. Amico, MD, MA

Clinical Associate of Medicine

Andrea L. Amico, MD, MA, specializes in the management of gastrointestinal and breast malignancies and neuroendocrine tumors in the Section of Hematology/Oncology. She has additional training in clinical cancer genetics, risk and prevention, and medical anthropology, with a focus on the social and cultural context and implications of care. During her fellowship, Dr. Amico created a pilot study to explore the risks and benefits of genetic information in high-risk African American families. She has experience caring for patients from disparate sociocultural and educational backgrounds who have complex medical needs.

Dr. Amico has a particular interest in improving cancer outcomes in minority and low socioeconomic status groups. She works with advocacy groups to provide educational programs that raise awareness about cancer risk and prevention in underserved communities.
