Barry G.W. Arnason, MDProfessor of NeurologyThe Committees on Immunology and NeurobiologyDr. Barry Arnason is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis, autoimmune neuropathies, and myasthenia gravis. His clinical interests also include facial nerve problems, Guillain-Barre syndrome, trigeminal neuralgia, and Bell's palsy. Dr. Arnason sees several thousand patients per year--many are national and international referrals. Dr. Arnason's research focuses on immune cell function in multiple sclerosis. His laboratory is looking at the role of certain immune cells, including T suppressor cells, IFN-secreting cells, and NK cells. He is also exploring the protective effect of pregnancy in multiple sclerosis. Dr. Arnason shares with Dr. Ewa Chelmicka-Schorr an interest in nervous system immune system interaction.
