Bernhard Ortel, MD

Associate Professor of Medicine

Dr. Bernhard Ortel is an expert in medical and surgical dermatology--particularly phototherapy, which is the treatment of skin conditions with ultraviolet light or with light in combination with medication (photochemo-therapy and photodynamic therapy). He also specializes in the assessment and management of patients with photosensitivity diseases, psoriasis, acne, skin cancer, immuno-dermatoses and other skin disorders.

Dr. Ortel's research has focused on understanding skin disorders caused by exposure to sunlight and on expanding the applications of light-based therapies for a variety of skin diseases.
