Dorothy A. Sipkins, MD, PhD

Dorothy Sipkins, MD, PhD, is an expert in the diagnosis and medical management of blood disorders.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Sipkins' work focuses on the interaction between tumors, bone marrow and stem cells that develop into blood cells. She serves as the primary investigator on several studies designed to examine how malignant cells exploit molecular signals within normal tissues to metastasize, proliferate and evade chemotherapy. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and by private foundations.

Dr. Sipkins is very active in the medical oncology community. She is a member of several notable committees, including the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center Standing Grant Review Committee, and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for numerous scientific journals. Dr. Sipkins is frequently invited to present her work at national and international conferences on cancer research and stem biology.
