Hedy Lee Kindler, MDAssociate Professor of MedicineMedical Director, Gastrointestinal OncologyDirector, Mesothelioma ProgramHedy Lee Kindler, MD, is an internationally known cancer expert who specializes in the medical treatment of gastrointestinal cancers and mesothelioma, a type of lung cancer that is primarily caused by overexposure to asbestos. Dr. Kindler is actively investigating several types of new treatments for cancer, including novel drugs that slow the growth of blood vessels to pancreatic tumors, and therapies that target the unique biology of mesothelioma. Dr. Kindler is a member of several cancer research groups, and serves as the chair of the mesothelioma subcommittee of Cancer and Leukemia Group B, a national cooperative cancer research group. A prolific author, Dr. Kindler has written several book chapters and has published nearly 50 scientific articles. She is a member of the editorial board of BioOncology Watch, and serves as a reviewer for many cancer journals.
