Dr. Kay specializes in the care of expectant mothers who have serious medical conditions such as asthma, hypertension or diabetes, or whose pregnancies have been complicated by high-risk conditions such as premature labor, blood clotting or multiple gestations. Dr. Kay's primary clinical and basic research focuses on the role of the placenta in preeclampsia. Her additional areas of research include prenatal diagnosis and the study of different imaging modalities, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound, in the assessment of prenatal fetal disorders. A renowned maternal-fetal medicine specialist, Dr. Kay is the author of several book chapters and more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. She is an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has served on the editorial board for the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology and now serves on the editorial board for the journal Placenta.
