Howard J. Halpern, MD, PhD

Professor of Radiation and Cellular Oncology

Director, Center for EPR Imaging In Vivo Physiology

Dr. Howard Halpern specializes in medical imaging techniques. He is an expert in very low frequency-imaging-electron paramagnetic resonance (VLF-I-EPR). This technique enables measurement of changes in oxygen content in tumor tissues--a key determinant of response to radiation therapy.

Dr. Halpern is the co-author of a textbook on free radical biology. He serves as the principal investigator for the Oversight Committee for the Laboratory Training of Radiation Oncology Residents.
