Jean Bao, MD

Assistant Professor of Surgery

Jean Bao, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in the treatment of men and woman with breast cancer, benign breast disease and a genetic disposition or strong family history of breast cancer. She performs procedures such as skin- and nipple-sparing mastectomies, partial mastectomies, sentinel node biopsies and axillary node dissections. Dr. Bao trained with one of the world’s foremost experts in the sentinel node technique.

As a member of multidisciplinary care teams in plastic surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiation and genetics, she helps guide patients through the entire spectrum of their cancer care.

Dr. Bao’s research focuses on clinical outcomes. She has studied breast cancer management in older patients and the management of small breast cancers, as well as triple negative breast cancer.
