Jean-Luc Benoit, MDAssistant Professor of MedicineDirector, Travel ClinicDr. Jean-Luc Benoit is an expert in travel medicine and infectious diseases. He is active in the HIV and infectious diseases clinics, where he treats complex infections, including primary and acquired immunodeficiencies, post-surgical infections, endocarditis and fever of an unknown origin. He also oversees the infection management of patients from all areas of the hospital in the infectious diseases consult service. Recognized as a leading educator at the University of Chicago, Dr. Benoit is co-founder and director of the infectious diseases fellowship program. He plays a prominent role in the organization of teaching curricula within the department. Dr. Benoit teaches extensively about HIV, parasitology and tropical medicine. He has a tropical medicine diploma from the Institut de Médecine Tropicale in Prince Léopold, Belgium. Dr. Benoit's research interests include studying how viewpoints of patients infected with the HIV virus influence their adherence to antiretroviral therapy.
