Kevin Roggin, MD

Associate Professor of Surgery

A board-certified general surgeon and surgical oncologist, Kevin Roggin, MD, specializes in the surgical treatment of complex upper gastrointestinal tract cancers (stomach, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, colorectal, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), retroperitoneal sarcomas, and bile duct/cholangiocarcinoma).

Dr. Roggin serves as program director of the General Surgery Residency and associate program director of the Surgical Oncology Fellowship. He is also vice-chairman of the training committee of the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Additionally, Dr. Roggin coordinates a multidisciplinary research team of pancreatic cancer physicians and scientists from the University of Chicago and affiliated institutions. This team is actively investigating:

• Novel molecular markers associated with the transformation of pancreatic cystic neoplasm into pancreatic cancer
• The predictive value of comprehensive geriatrics assessment in complex patients undergoing pancreatic operations
• Genomic analysis of pancreatic cystic neoplasm
