Her current research focuses on assessing intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in overcoming secondary recurrent miscarriage. In the past, Dr. Stephenson has researched the effectiveness of various treatments for pregnancy loss and infertility. She was the Canadian investigator in a landmark trial that resulted in the FDA halting mononuclear-cell immunization, because the study showed it to be an ineffective treatment. At British Columbia’s Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, Dr. Stephenson developed the Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Clinic--one of the largest such programs in North America. A frequent speaker at national and international conferences, she has published many medical journals, and is one of only two physicians featured in Jon Cohen's Coming to Term: Uncovering the Truth About Miscarriage.
