Neethi Pinto, MD, MS

Director of Clinical Research, Pediatric Critical Care

Neethi Pinto, MD, MS, cares for critically ill infants and children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and pediatric sedation service.

Dr. Pinto aims to improve outcomes for children in the PICU through her innovative research program where she studies factors that predict the long-term outcomes of children who survive critical illness. Dr. Pinto is also an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine's THRIVE initiative. She serves on the THRIVE task force that focuses on education, resource development, and research initiatives with the goal of improving the quality of life and longevity of critical illness survivors, both adult and pediatric. Additionally, as an investigator for the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (PALISI) Network, Dr. Pinto examines new treatment strategies for acute lung injury, cardiac failure and other life-threatening, complex diseases. She is currently leading seven ongoing PALISI studies at Comer Children's Hospital.

Dr. Pinto is a dedicated clinician, teacher and mentor. She provides advanced care for patients admitted to the PICU as well as the pediatric sedation service. She is a Core Faculty member for the Pediatric Residency program, serving as Faculty Director of the Resident Journal Club since 2010. She also created and directs P-CARES, a novel, evidence-based medicine curriculum for residents in pediatrics and fellows in critical care. In addition, Dr. Pinto has been invited to lecture on pharmacology, toxicology, sepsis and survivorship at numerous regional, national and international conferences. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was recently selected to serve as a Junior Faculty Scholar for The University of Chicago Bucksbaum Institute of Clinical Excellence.
