Rita Nanda, MD

Rita Nanda, MD, specializes in the treatment of breast cancer. She has particular expertise in the treatment of triple-negative, early onset, hereditary, and locally-advanced breast cancers. She is a strong advocate of using chemotherapy prior to surgery (neoadjuvant chemotherapy) to better understand how an individual's tumor responds to therapy, so that treatment can be tailored to each patient's unique case.

Dr. Nanda's research interests include identifying novel treatments that will improve outcomes for women with all forms of breast cancer. Dr. Nanda is a Principal Investigator in the Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium (TBCRC), the University of Chicago Phase II Network Breast Cancer Program Team Leader, and a member of the Breast Program Leadership Committee. Dr. Nanda leads the University of Chicago's clinical breast cancer research efforts.
