Robert Steppacher, MDClinical Associate of SurgeryRobert Steppacher, MD, is a vascular surgeon. His clinical expertise lies in the care of peripheral vascular disease, including: leg pain, chronic wounds and diabetic foot ulcers, cerebrovascular disease, including stroke and transient ischemic attack. Dr. Steppacher has extensive experience in the endovascular treatment of renal artery (kidney) and mesenteric artery (intestines) occlusive disease. As a member of the University of Chicago Center for Aortic Diseases, Dr. Steppacher provides specialized care for patient with aortic and peripheral aneurysms. He also specializes in the treatment of venous diseases, such as varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, venous ulcers and blood clots. Dr Steppacher also has extensive experience in the creation and maintenance of dialysis access. Dr. Steppacher's research focuses on endovascular therapy, carotid artery stenting procedures and improving quality and outcomes in vascular surgery. An accomplished author, his work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Steppacher is an active participant in the Illinois Vascular Study Group, a regional multi-institutional consortium dedicated to excellence in vascular surgery.
