Sangeeta Bhorade, MDAssociate Professor of MedicineMedical Director, Lung Transplantation ProgramDr. Sangeeta Bhorade has been involved with the advancement of lung transplantation as an option for adults with end-stage lung disease and pulmonary vascular disease. She and her team provide pre- and post-transplant care for about 15 new lung transplant patients each year. An active researcher, Dr. Bhorade has been the co-investigator on grants awarded by the National Institutes of Health and other respected organizations. She recently completed a multi-center lung transplant clinical trial that is evaluating novel immunosuppression regimens in lung transplantation. Committed to improving transplant success rates, Dr. Bhorade is studying the effects of various therapies on reducing infection and rejection in lung transplant patients. She is interested in identifying predictors and risk factors for chronic rejection, the major obstacle to long-term survival after lung transplantation. In addition, Dr. Bhorade actively participates on several international lung transplant committees. She has been invited to speak at several national and international transplant conferences. Dr. Bhorade has published dozens of papers and abstracts on transplant-related topics in respected medical journals, including the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation and the American Journal of Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine.
