Steve White, MDProfessor of MedicineDr. Steve White is an expert on asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Using the most advanced diagnostic and treatment methods, he specializes in the evaluation and management of these and other complex pulmonary conditions. Dr. White sees patients in the University of Chicago Asthma and COPD Center--a network of physicians, scientists, nurses and social workers dedicated to asthma care, research and education. His research, funded by the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, explores the molecular mechanisms of airway cell repair and survival in asthma. A respected speaker, he has lectured at scientific meetings in North America and Europe. He is also the author of several book chapters and more than 70 peer-reviewed articles. Additionally, Dr. White is co-program director for the University of Chicago Asthma and Allergic Diseases Cooperative Research Center from the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
