Thomas A. Hensing, MDClinical Associate Professor of MedicineThomas Hensing, MD, specializes in thoracic oncology. He has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and mediastinal tumors -- malignancies that develop in the area of the chest that separates the lungs and contains the heart. An active researcher, Dr. Hensing's work focuses on advancing therapies for non-small cell lung cancer. He serves as the primary investigator on numerous clinical trials designed to bring new cancer-fighting drugs to the market, and has developed an innovative tool to monitor symptoms for people with late stage lung cancer. Dr. Hensing also has studied the impact of electronic health records on the culture of outpatient medical oncology practices. Dr. Hensing has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts, as well as several chapters in leading textbooks.
