Dr. Wickii Vigneswaran is an expert in the surgical management of lung disorders, including thoracic cancer and a variety of conditions that require lung transplantation. He is a pioneer in the field of thoracic surgery, and has specialized in thoracic organ transplantation since 1990.

Dr. Vigneswaran is a well-respected surgeon nationally for his skills in managing patients with lung cancer and end-stage lung disease, including lung volume reduction surgery. He holds leadership positions in several medical organizations, including the American College of Chest Physicians and the International College of Surgeons.

His current research interests include lung transplantation outcomes, ischemia reperfusion lung injury, and minimal access thoracic surgery. He also participates in National Cancer Institute-directed thoracic oncology treatment protocols and other multi-center studies in the field of lung cancer and lung transplantation.

Dr. Vigneswaran has authored more than 65 original articles and book chapters, and is regularly asked to speak at national and international conferences. An exceptional accomplishment, he has been made a fellow of medical societies in three countries--the American College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr. Vigneswaran is on the editorial review boards of several prestigious medical journals including Chest, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, International Surgery, Clinical Investigation, Journal of Surgical Research, American Journal of Transplantation and the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
