Day of Service and Reflection

Volunteers gardening

The Day of Service and Reflection is a day that brings University of Chicago faculty, staff, students, friends and families into our service area for a morning of community service. It occurs each year in May. Last year this event included over 200 community volunteers who worked hard on 24 service projects to enhance our community.

Selected South Side non-profit organizations submit a half-day project that can be completed by a team of volunteers. Our goal is to provide a service experience that both engages our employees and provides community organizations help with a meaningful project.

Students Can Earn Community Service Hours

Note to parents of high schoolers: Youth participating in DOSAR can receive six community service hours. Please provide the school's community service form on the day of service. All students must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration information for the next DOSAR will be available in spring 2014.
