International Adoption Clinic
Providing a Strong Start for New Families
Each year, thousands of children are adopted from overseas. In order to meet the special needs of adoptive families, our physicians established the International Adoption Clinic at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. This unique resource has been designed to provide adoptive families with a wide range of services, including:
- Pre-adoption assessments
- Post-adoption medical evaluations
- Developmental evaluations
- Social services
- A comprehensive library of medical research and resources
International Adoption Clinic physicians are board-certified pediatricians who specialize in providing medical, behavioral, and developmental care to adopted children from China, Russia, Korea, Central America, and other parts of the world. Families have access to a full range of pediatric services including infectious disease consultations and other resources that will help ease the transition to a new home.
