Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program Physician Team

Our medical team includes adult and pediatric hematologists/oncologists who are authorities on leukemia, lymphoma and stem cell transplantation. This primary group collaborates with specialists in fertility, gynecology and psychiatry to provide comprehensive services for AYA patients. Dedicated advanced practice nurses and social workers support the medical team.

Sarah A. Sciortino, MSW, LSW
Sarah A. Sciortino is the adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology psychosocial support services program coordinator at the University of Chicago Medicine and Comer Children’s Hospital. She works in collaboration with adolescent and young adult leukemia/lymphoma experts Tara Henderson, MD, Wendy Stock, MD, and Jennifer McNeer, MD.
 
Sciortino has a master’s of social work with a health concentration from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor's in psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Among her related experience, she received extensive training at the Simms/Mann UCLA’s Center for Integrative Oncology and worked in both adult and pediatric hospice as a bereavement therapist. Sciortino specializes in working with adolescents and young adults in a therapeutic capacity. AYA patients are seen on Tuesday mornings in the Comer Center for Children and Specialty Care, a new state-of-the-art outpatient clinic and infusion suite adjacent to the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital.
