The Section of Dermatology specializes in the treatment of inflammatory and neoplastic skin disorders that present therapeutic problems or complex medical complications. Among these disorders are:

  • Severe acne
  • Major blistering diseases, such as pemphigus, pemphigoid, and bullous erythema multiforme
  • Connective tissue diseases, such as lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, and scleroderma
  • Malignant melanoma
  • Mycosis fungoides
  • Severe psoriasis and eczematous dermatitis
  • Pyoderma gangrenosum and necrotizing vasculitis

This section maintains special interests in the following:

  • Acne
  • Chronic leg ulcer problems
  • Disorders of hair growth
  • Disturbances of pigmentation
  • Genetic skin disorders
  • Infections, especially by herpes and wart viruses, fungi, and bacteria
  • Nail problems

Dermatological surgery and oncology services are available for patients with benign or malignant cutaneous lesions.

In addition, we have a comprehensive referral laboratory that offers tissue processing, slide preparation, interpretation, and reports. The laboratory's services also include dermatohistopathology, electron microscopy, immunophenotyping, and immunofluorescence.
