Our staff manages the education, licensure, operations, and quality improvement for all levels of EMS providers in our system.

University of Chicago Aeromedical Network

We also maintain the University of Chicago Aeromedical Network (UCAN), which offers both helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft transportation. The aeromedical service is staffed 24-hours-a-day by a pilot, flight nurse, and flight physician. The helicopter and aircraft are equipped to transport critically ill or injured patients--including neonatal, pediatric, and obstetrical emergencies, and cardiac patients requiring balloon pump support.
