The Department of Family Medicine provides primary care for patients and families through all stages of life. We integrate biological, clinical and behavioral medicine to deliver comprehensive and continuing patient-centered care.
Many of our physicians are active partners with local community health centers, working to enhance access and quality for underserved patients of all ages on the South Side of Chicago. Our primary care doctors also practice extensively in suburban clinics throughout Chicagoland.
Education, Research and Community Service
In addition to a strong clinical practice focus, we emphasize teaching and research and engage in community health improvement initiatives. We play key roles in the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine, the Institute of Translational Medicine and the Urban Health Initiative. Through these partnerships, the Department of Family Medicine trains future family physicians, collaborates on outcomes research, and works to improve patient care and health policy in Chicago and throughout the country.
