Why Choose Us for Interventional Endoscopy?

High Volume, High Level of Expertise

Dr. Waxman and patient

At the University of Chicago Hospitals, our interventional endoscopy experts are leaders in the field, performing a high volume of cases each year. For example, we performed more than 1,000 specialized ultrasound and therapeutic pancreatic or liver cases last year. Our interventional endoscopy program is one of the largest in the region, attracting patients for highly specialized procedures not widely available at other hospitals.

Respected Clinical Research Program

Here, our endoscopists are actively conducting clinical research, hoping to expand the application of interventional endoscopy. Our experts are studying the effectiveness of new procedures, looking at how gastrointestinal interventional endoscopy can improve diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases. Our patients benefit from these research efforts, and many choose to participate in clinical trials of promising minimally invasive treatments.

We're Teaching the Interventional Endoscopists of Tomorrow

Our specialists are training new physicians in this highly specialized field. The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy has recognized us as one of 30 programs in the United States to provide formal training in advanced interventional endoscopy.
