Minimally Invasive Atrial Fibrillation Surgery: Lynda's Story

Video: Atrial Fibrillation: Lynda's Story

In this video, Lynda and cardiac surgeons Valluvan Jeevanandam, MD, and Shahab Akhter, MD, describe her case and the benefits of atrial fibrillation surgery. Duration: 5 minutes, 4 seconds

A very avid runner, Lynda was hiking in Italy when she noticed her heart racing out of control. She was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, which can lead to an increased risk of heart failure or stroke.

Lynda travelled to the University of Chicago medical center from New York after speaking with Valluvan Jeevanandam, MD. She chose the University of Chicago Medicine because our heart surgeons can offer the most advanced minimally invasive techniques. Since the procedure, Lynda now "feels like herself again" and enjoys running without feeling her heart racing.
