Heart Rhythm Center
Electrophysiologists are cardiologists who specialize in treating heart rhythm disorders. Some heart rhythm disorders may be treated by a cardiac surgeon, especially when coexisting heart problems require surgery. Our Heart Rhythm Center is the busiest university-based program in the Chicago area. We provide care for people with the most complex irregular heartbeats, consistently with excellent results.
Our team of physicians includes:
Martin C. Burke, DO
Director, Hearth Rhythm Center
Professor of Medicine
Shahab Akhter, MD
Director, Surgical Arrhythmia Program
Associate Professor of Surgery
John F. Beshai, MD
Director, Pacemaker and Defibrillator Services
Associate Professor of Medicine
Joshua D. Moss, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Hemal M. Nayak, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
In addition to providing the full range of heart rhythm disorder care services at the University of Chicago's Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine, some members of our electrophysiology team provide diagnostic and treatment services at many community hospitals.
