Coronary Artery Disease and Chest Pain
At the University of Chicago Medical Center, we have assembled one of the nation's finest teams of heart experts who specialize in diagnosing and treating all aspects of coronary artery disease. From treatments to alleviate chest pain to rescuing the heart after heart attack, our teams of specialists are always available to offer the finest care.
Our physicians can often offer more treatment options than other hospitals. Medical Center cardiologists and heart surgeons have special expertise in treating people with complex disease or co-existing medical problems, such as diabetes. We often take on the most challenging cases--those otherwise considered untreatable.
The University of Chicago Medical Center is one of the only hospitals in the nation that is performing totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass surgery (TECAB), a breakthrough approach to bypass surgery that requires no cutting of the breastbone -- resulting in a faster recovery and less risk for complications, compared to traditional open chest bypass surgery. This procedure is performed with the assistance of the da Vinci Surgical System®, a sophisticated robotic device that allows the surgery to be performed through four to five fingertip-size incisions.
