Nissen Fundoplication: GERD

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is caused by malfunction of the valve between the esophagus and stomach. This permits stomach acid and other stomach contents such as bile and enzymes to regurgitate into the esophagus, causing inflammation and pain.
