Visitation Guidelines for Adult and Maternity Patients
All visitors must stop at the Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital entrance and obtain an ID badge at the Information Desk on the second floor. Even those who may have previously received special ID badges or wristbands need to stop at the Information Desk.
Visiting Hours
Visitors are allowed between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. daily.
Children Visiting
Visitors must be older than age 16. If a child is younger than age 16, he or she must be accompanied by and remain under the direct supervision of a responsible adult in order to be admitted as a visitor.
Children younger than age 6 will not be admitted as visitors unless their parent or guardian has completed the screening for infectious disease form provided by security at the Mitchell entrance. They may only visit if the patient is in a private room--unless an exception has been made by the nurse caring for the patient.
Children younger than age 16 will NOT be admitted to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (6NW).
Other Considerations
- Only two visitors are permitted in a patient room at a time so that patients can rest and recuperate.
- All visitors must be free of any signs and symptoms--such as coughs or fevers--indicating infection with a contagious disease.
- Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) and those with conditions that increase their risk of infection may not receive live flowers or plants. Please ask the nurse for further details.
The Hospitals reserves the right to limit visitation as it considers appropriate to the interests of patients, families, visitors, and staff.
